An investigation has been launched into the cause of two fires that destroyed an Adams County house within 24 hours, officials said.
The first fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. Monday at a home in the 1100 block of Beaver Run Road in Straban Township, according to United Hook & Ladder Chief Steve Rabine. Firefighters knocked down the fire, which was pushing from the house s windows, in about 15 minutes.
Officials said the fire caused significant damage to the house and displaced the resident, who said an electric recliner was the cause. Firefighters spent more than 90 minutes ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and that all utilities were disconnected.
