WASHINGTON, D.C. – “We are on the verge of a huge victory: the American Rescue Plan, we expect to pass next week,” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) said during his Wednesday, March 3, news conference call. “It includes a dramatic expansion of the two most effective tools we have to help to make hard work pay off and to help lift kids out of poverty: the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC).”
The Democrat senator from Cleveland was joined on the call by Angela Lowery, director of Financial Empowerment for United Way of Summit and Medina. During the conference call, he shared how he is working to help Ohioans by securing some of the language in President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID relief package by expanding the EITC and CTC.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Over 500,000 Americans have died from COVID-19. Over 9,600 of those are Alabamians. Those numbers arenât just numbers to the families. They represent mothers, fathers, grandparents, sons, daughters and other relatives.
The New York Times recently depicting the lives lost with dots on the front page of the newspaper.
Two of those dots are for Dr. Angela Lowery and Phyllis Floyd. Both of them losing the battle with COVID-19 last summer. We spoke with their mother this week.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The United States has reached another grim milestone in the coronavirus pandemic.
Half a million people have died from the virus in the U.S. as efforts continue to get people vaccinated.
We have now surpassed that 500,000 mark and Mellie Nese Dudley canât help but think of her own daughters.
Both of them died from COVID-19 last year.
Dudley is still heartbroken over the loss of her only two children: Dr. Angela Lowery and Phyllis Floyd.
