Estherville Police Department Releases Annual Report

Estherville, IA (KICD)– Estherville Police Chief Brent Shatto has released his annual report. He tells KICD News he’d classify it as a typical year.
Estherville police answered 58 hundred 5 calls in 2020, up 34 percent from 2019.
190 adult arrests were made, up from 166. Assaults, Burglaries, and drug incidents were all down.
Shatto says there were 4 felony drug arrests and 13 misdemeanor drug arrests. His office recovered 53.34 grams of pot and 1.8 grams of meth.
Estherville’s police dog Max – who just passed away unexpectedly last week – was called out 31 times . 13 times for narcotic searches, 12 to assist other agencies, 5 times to track individuals, and once for an article search.

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KEYC) An Estherville man was killed Wednesday evening in a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck.
The Estherville Police Department reports it received a call at approximately 6:12 p.m. Wednesday of a crash involving a motorcycle and pickup truck at the intersection of South 8th Street and 2nd Avenue South in Estherville. The caller told dispatchers that the motorcyclist was injured and needed an ambulance.
MOTORCYCLE FATALITY IN ESTHERVILLE MOTORCYCLE FATALITY IN ESTHERVILLE
On Wednesday, April 7th, at approximately 6:12 pm, 911 Communications Operators received a call of a motorcycle and truck collision that occurred at the intersection of South 8th Street and 2nd Avenue South in Estherville. The caller reported that the motorcyclist was injured and needed an ambulance.
Responding officers administered first aid along with local citizens and the Estherville Ambulance Service. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Samuel Woolery, age 25 of Estherville. Samuel Woolery was transported to Avera Holy Family Hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.

Estherville, IA (KICD) Estherville police responded to a fatal motorcycle vs. pick-up accident Wednesday.
Estherville Police Chief Brent Shatto says the vehicle vs motorcycle accident happened at the intersection of South 8th Street and 2nd Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers administered first aid to the driver of the motorcycle, identified as 25-year-old Samuel Woolery of Estherville. Woolery was taken to Avera Holy Family Hospital and later taken to a hospital in Sioux Falls. Woolery passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
