His father owned the store. And now he owns it with his brother Bob.
But after 68 years in business, the shop plans to close this summer as the Gerlach brothers retire.

Dan s parents, Chuck and Eileen Gerlach, opened the business in 1954 at Lefeber and North avenues in Wauwatosa. At the time, the business was just a pet store.
After a few years, the store began to sell plants and gardening materials. And in 1958, it moved to 8520 W. North Ave., where it remains today.

Currently, electric scooters are available only in the city of Wauwatosa, after the city reached an agreement with Bird Rides.

What are they?
Electric scooters sometimes referred to as dockless scooters have two or three wheels, a platform for your feet and handlebars for steering. They also have a kickstand so you can easily park them.
They weigh from about 20 to 30 pounds. The handlebars are usually about 40 inches tall.

A statewide Silver Alert has been canceled after a 77-year-old woman who was last seen at the Springhill Suites in Wauwatosa was found safe Friday afternoon.
The alert was issued for Elaine Lucille Moertl after she drove away from the hotel, 10411 Watertown Plank Road, at 8 a.m. Friday.
Moertl was visiting a family member in a nearby hospital while staying in the hotel, according to a Wisconsin Crime Alert Network email.
