Yen Press announced the Megumi Hayashibara book
The Characters Taught Me Everything is available digitally outside Japan. People can get it via Bookwalker. The physical version will appear in stores in April 2021. The company also shared a video message from Hayashibara.
The book is an autobiographical memoir in which Hayashibara examines her career and the ways the characters she portrayed in various anime series affected it. Such characters include Rei Ayanami from
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Faye Valentine from
Cowboy Bebop, and Jessie from
Pokemon.
According to Hayashibara, the time she has spent with the characters she’s played have given her strength, happiness, and allowed her to enjoy life more. She said, “They’ve showed me how to carry on when I start to lose heart, they’ve even showed me that, ‘Hey, if I do this, I can patch things up with my friends when we get into arguments.’” Hayashibara wrote the book to pass those experiences on.
