Water and Sewerage Corporation signs MOU with IsraAID The Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with IsraAID for the development and implementation of a Sustainable Groundwater Management Project (SGMP) in Abaco, following the passage of Hurricane Dorian in 2019. The contract was signed by WSC Executive Chairman Adrian Gibson, which was witnessed by WSC General Manager Elwood Donaldson. IsraAID is an Israel-based non-governmental organization founded in 2001 and since its inception, it has worked in over 50 countries providing post-disaster assistance, utilizing an extensive roster of Israeli and international experts. During this project, IsraAID will be working closely with WSC personnel to develop and implement a groundwater management system for Abaco, utilizing a series of monitor wells equipped with sensors to provide data to a central Microsoft Access database, that will guide the management of the Abaco aquifer system

Woods disappointed that Bannister won’t meet with WSC unions Desmond Bannister. FILE Bahamas Utilities Service and Allied Workers Union (BUSAWU) President Dwayne Woods yesterday expressed disappointment with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister’s decision not to meet with the two unions at the Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) amid concerns about WSC’s decision to defer Christmas bonuses.  BUSAWU and the Water and Sewerage Management Union (WSMU) were expected to meet with the minister last Thursday. However, that meeting did not happen. On Friday, Bannister said that he will not meet with union leaders because they decided to take “industrial action” before meeting with him.

lrolle@tribunemedia.net   WORKS Minister Desmond Bannister said on Friday he has no intentions to meet with unions representing Water & Sewerage Corporation after officials urged workers to take industrial action this week stemming from grievances with the utility provider.  This comes after Mr Bannister told Tribune Business on Tuesday that he had planned to meet with Water & Sewerage Management Union (WSMU) and Bahamas Utilities Services & Allied Workers Union (BUSAWU) officials on Thursday after they called on their members to block all phone calls from Adrian Gibson, WSC executive chairman, and Elwood Donaldson, WSC general manager. 
 The two unions, in a joint statement entitled enough is enough , also urged members to immediately exit all Water & Sewerage Corporation What s App chat groups and turn in all cell phones belonging to the utility.
