Amid COVID, spring show a new experience for Trumbull students

TRUMBULL A year after getting shut down just days before opening night, director Jessica Spillane and the Trumbull High Thespians Troupe are back in the same situation, this time hoping for a different ending.
“We have had some stern conversations with the kids about protecting their health,” Spillane said. “We’re telling them, ‘We need you to be smart.’”
Trumbull High is set to debut its 2021 musical “Working” April 30 in a live performance in front of a limited audience. Spillane estimated no more than 300 people would be allowed inside the 1,100-seat school theater.
I ve always wanted to play and I ve watched all my cousins, dad and brother play growing up, Mitchell said. I ve always been around the touch footy and oztag scene so I just thought why not give it a go. She said her first year in the sport was amazing. It was a new team so there was a lot of girls that were new to it, so that was good for me so I didn t feel so left out, Mitchell said. And we actually went on to win the comp so it was a pretty amazing year. She said the squad was looking forward to getting on the field.
A 17-year-old was arrested this week after hitting an Amish buggy in a car and fleeing the scene.
On Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at approximately 2:14 p.m. the Logan County Sheriffâs Department responded to Chandlers Road in the area of Thornton Road in reference to a hit and run collision involving a horse and buggy driven by a member of the Amish community.
According to a police report, after arriving and through preliminary investigation, it was discovered that a northbound horse and buggy driven by 62-year-old Ella Miller of Auburn was struck in the back by a 2007 Hyundai Sonata, which was also travelling north on the road.
