The Agate Bay Lighthouse in Two Harbors is seeing new life after the Coast Guard installed a temporary light, while they raise money for a permanent light.
Spencertown Academy Arts Center will present âInherent Beauty,â an online photography exhibition, from Saturday, May 1, through Monday, May 31, at spencertownacademy.org.
This invitational show features works by David Halliday, Ellen Lynch, Gerald Seligman, and Neal Warshaw. The photographs will be for sale with a portion of sales benefiting the Academy.
The Hidden Gardens Virtual Lecture Series continues with a talk by Ellen Ecker Ogden titled âThe Art of Growing Foodâ at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1, via Zoom. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A with participants.
Ogden will illuminate six steps to successful kitchen garden design based on her years as an artist, gardener, and cook. She will deliver fresh ideas on how to bring art and whimsy to the kitchen garden, while also maintaining productivity and easy maintenance.

Veterans Voice: VA vaccinating as quickly as we can

It has been one year since the pandemic began and the toll upon our veteran population has been significant. More than 230,000 veterans have been infected with the virus and 10,605 have succumbed to the disease as of March 4.
However, hope is on the horizon for veterans and the healthcare providers who serve them.
Progress is being made on the vaccine front. “The VA has administered well over 2.1 million doses of the [COVID-19] vaccines. These include over 1.1 million first doses to veterans and 484,000 doses first and second doses to VA employees which have inoculated well over 90 percent of our clinical staff,” reported Acting Under Secretary for Health Richard A. Stone, of the Veterans Health Administration, in his testimony on Feb. 24 to the U.S. Senate Veterans Affairs Committee.
