BELLEFONTE A pedestrian was struck by an SUV on Tuesday night in Bellefonte Borough. According to police, the incident happened on High Street near the YMCA just before 8:30 p.m. Officials said the woman was wearing dark clothing and the driver turning from Allegheny Street didn’t see her when she crossed. She was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for minor injuries. A pedestrian was hit and killed by a truck in the same location in July of 2020. According to state police at Rockview, a 2008 Ford F550 pickup truck being driven by Kenneth L. Bowes, 56, of Bellefonte was traveling North along Zion Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto Forest Avenue. He turned into the path of a 2005 Dodge Dakota being driven by Jennifer Shank, 46, of Howard. Damage to both vehicles was severe.
