Colesville, Broome County, NY town marks bicentennial, 200 years old

Well, it’s hard to celebrate your birthday with a pandemic still racing through the country. It is even harder to celebrate that birthday when you are 200 years old.  I mean, you’re probably infirm, and maybe your mind is a little feeble. Who wouldn’t be? The answer to that would be the Town of Colesville. The Town of Colesville was created on April 2, 1821. It was split off from the Town of Windsor to create its own township. There is no incorporated villages or cities within the boundaries of the town, but there are plenty of hamlets and activity. 

New Mexico governor used fund to buy groceries

Republican House Minority Leader Jim Townsend said the governor’s purchases were “unfortunate” and inappropriate. “It’s not what tax dollars ought to be spent for,” Townsend said. “In the time when people are hurting all over the state, using their tax dollars to buy Wagyu beef has got to be a little bit disenchanting to many people. Former Republican Gov. Susana Martinez spent about $470,000 in discretionary funds from 2011 through 2017, or an average of about $68,000 per year.
