AmeriCorps staff cleans up Darden House grounds | News, Sports, Jobs

ELKINS On April 13, the AmeriCorps Senior Staff from the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs, MOVRC Parkersburg Office, in collaboration with Elkins Make It Shine, came together and cleaned up the grounds of the Darden House. Katie McClain also participated in the clean up. This area was chosen due to the programs utilizing the Darden House for an office space that houses Michelle Row Williams, MOVRC program coordinator for FGP and SCP, and for their appreciation for the area.

Feb 27, 2021 ELKINS Election day is Tuesday. The Finance Committee meets Monday, and Council meets Thursday. The regularly scheduled meeting of council’s Economic Growth and Development Committee is canceled. On Monday at 10 a.m., the Finance Committee meets in special session to work on the fiscal year 2022 budget. At this meeting, the committee will consider requests for contributions to outside organizations, including the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission, the Elkins-Randolph County Airport Authority, the Randolph County Animal Control Office, the Randolph-Elkins Health Department, and others. The Elkins Historic Landmarks Commission has been working since 2013 to obtain Historic District National Register certification for the city’s Graham District neighborhood. Dec 12, 2020 Elkins Common Council, Public Safety Committee and Personnel Committee all meet next week. In addition, the Elkins Historic Landmarks Commission meets Tuesday at 4 p.m., and the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission meets Wednesday at 5 p.m. In response to high coronavirus infection rates in Randolph County and statewide, the mayor has ordered that Elkins council and committee meetings be held virtually through at least December.
