Any intra-squad scrimmage comes to a sort of zero sum conclusion. Although the Huskies won by nine on Saturday, the Huskies also lost by nine. How you interpret the relative success or failure probably has a lot to do with your optimism about the team or a specific player or position group going into the game.
With that said, Saturday’s Spring Game was a fun event, as much marketing as it was football. Dylan Morris’s steady hand for the Purple team was enough to hold off more explosive plays by Sam Huard and Patrick O’Brien’s Gold team. Purple won 22-13 in an entertaining event, but there were plenty of individuals who stood out.

Out of all the neighborhoods in Gardner, there is no question that the area affectionately known as “South Village” has been around the longest. In addition, you won’t find many citizens any more rabid for their section of town than the South Gardnerites.
It was in this section of town that Gardner’s first settler, Elijah Jackson, erected his home, the famed Public House known as “Jackson Tavern.”

An Erie police investigation into the shooting of a 13-year-old boy in what the city’s police chief said appears to have been a targeted attack on Dec. 5 has turned into a homicide probe.
Chief Dan Spizarny said Thursday morning that investigators have been told that the boy, identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner as Kas-ir Gambill, had died of his injuries. The boy had been at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after being shot multiple times as he and a 17-year-old relative walked away from another relative’s house on the city’s east side on Dec. 5 at about 9:30 p.m.
