Campaigners began to push the Scottish Government to create changes to how pyrotechnics can be sold and used after terrifying scenes in Pollokshields on Bonfire Night 2019. Now the government has published details of a proposed new bill - and the public has eight weeks to give feedback. Pollokshields anti-fireworks campaigner Danny Phillips said: I cautiously welcome the consultation.
Applications are now open for the Inverclyde Windfarm Grant fund. The scheme is a partnership between ICF and Inverclyde Renewables LLP and it will receive an annual payment of around £70k linked to the energy output of the windfarm in the hills above Greenock. Eleanor Robertson, chair of Inverclyde Community Fund, said: Alongside my fellow trustees, we are delighted to launch the new Inverclyde Windfarm Fund and we expect this vital cash to provide and create great opportunities locally. INVERCLYDE WIND FARM THE new £35m wind farm on the hills above Greenock is set to power a £700k windfall for local voluntary and community groups. Cash will flow into local good causes under a tie-up between the site developers, Inverclyde Renewables, and Inverclyde Community Fund. The energy firm has been snapped up by Larbert-based sawmilling group James Jones & Sons Ltd, in a joint deal with London-based specialist asset manager, Gresham House. One of their obligations will be to deliver community benefits for Inverclyde residents.
