Article continues below advertisement ↴ The body of a missing snowmobiler from Grunthal has been located, nearly three months after he was last seen in the Whiteshell. On February 21st, at approximately 11:25 pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of an overdue snowmobiler. 50-year-old Dan Lemay from Grunthal left Pinewood Lodge on a snowmobile trip around 4 pm to retrieve a broken snowmobile that was left at Rennie. He had called a friend at approximately 7:15 pm, to advise that he was unsure of his location, but believed he was close to Nutimik Lake. He again contacted this individual at 9:15 pm saying he thought he was near Pinewood Lodge. That was the last contact with Lemay.

The RCMP says the body of a man missing since the winter has been found. The remains of Dan Lemay were found Monday morning in Eleanor Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park. Lemay, who was from Grunthal, Manitoba, was last seen on February 21st on his snowmachine. A search was done at the time, but he wasn’t located and it was called off on February 23rd. On February 21st, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of an overdue snowmobiler. Fifty year-old Dan Lemay from Grunthal left Pinewood Lodge on a snowmobile trip to retrieve a broken sled. He made contact with a friend a couple of times, noting he was unsure of his location, but was then not heard from again. By the next morning a search was organized, which lasted the better part of two days. Eventually, snowmobile tracks were discovered which led to broken ice on Eleanor Lake. Police presumed Lemay drowned and called off the search, until spring.

  WINNIPEG The remains of a snowmobiler who went missing nearly three months ago have been found on Eleanor Lake. Manitoba RCMP received a call about the remains on Monday around 10 a.m., and the water transport unit went to Eleanor Lake to help. Mounties confirmed the identity of the remains as Dan LeMay, a missing snowmobiler from Grunthal, Man. LeMay, 50, went missing in February 2021. According to police, LeMay left the Pinewood Lodge on Feb. 21 on a snowmobile trip to get a broken snowmobile in Rennie, Man. A few hours after he left, he called a family member to say he was unsure of his location, but thought he was close to Nutimik Lake. Then, a few hours after that, he contacted the family member again to say he thought he was near Pinewood Lodge. That is the last contact he had with the family member.
