The ceremony took place at the Education Towers, St Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain. The training was provided by Education Solution Specialists Ltd (ESSL), which collaborated with Unicomer Trinidad Ltd and the Machel Montano Foundation for Greatness. Four of the 50 teachers were present at the ceremony: Kersha Alexis of Toco Secondary, Maria Daley of Siparia Boys RC; Tinel Chase of Macaulay Government Primary; and Ernisia Guy of Carenage Government Primary.

Montanos Chocolate Company to take on export market with new factory

Launched as a fun concept for a Machel Monday concert, Machel Montano chocolates are now set to find a place in the international market when the new Montanos Chocolate Company factory is completed. The factory, says Elizabeth Montano, the matriarch of the Montano clan, will allow the company to build capacity as they focus on exports. “We have been involved with ExportTT going to missions to push our product. We went to Germany, South Korea and Colombia and we were supposed to go to more countries but the pandemic came so we met with Panama, Chile and Atlanta virtually. Right now we are exporting to Canada and I have built a really good relationship with Latin American companies and we have signed up with a distributor who is trying to get us into Argentina,” she told Loop News.

Four local manufacturers receive grant funding to aid in business growth and development

16/12/2020:  Four local manufacturers are the latest recipients of grant funding totaling  $789,061.13 from the Grant Fund Facility (GFF) administered by the Ministry of Trade and Industry through exporTT Limited.  During a recent Webinar hosted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry themed “Growing a Manufacturing Business for Export”,  Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry underscored the Government’s commitment to enhancing access to finance, building capacity of manufacturers and promoting locally grown products on the international market. She added that “ the funding accessed by these local manufacturers will assist in the acquisition of new machinery, equipment and expansion projects and in so doing, provide an opportunity to improve their productivity and competitiveness, create more innovative and high-value products, increase exports and penetrate extra-regional markets.”

Each NGO received $27,000 at the event titled Brunch at Ashley. The NGOs were the Girl Guides Association, Jacob s Wishing for Wings, Kids in Need of Direction (KIND), Swaha Vishok Bhavan Children’s Home, the Machel Montano Foundation for Greatness (MMFG), and Animal Welfare Network.
