It’s no secret that there is a disparity between the Black and white experiences in America. While the protests of 2020 were supported by a large number of white individuals, there is still constant pressure on Black people to educate the rest of the world on the struggles and obstacles we face daily. While that unrelenting pressure can be incredibly difficult and tiring to bear, authors, activists and whole communities continue to come together, educating, speaking on and empowering those around them.

A cat in Chicago may now have eight lives after jumping out of a fifth-floor window Thursday afternoon (local time) to escape an apartment fire.
Chicago Fire Department personnel were taking a video of the exterior of the building as firefighters were extinguishing the blaze when a black cat appeared through billowing smoke at a broken window.

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich announced the members of a new committee tasked with developing a report on safety and mental health in schools.
The Reimagining School Safety and Students’ Well-Being Steering Committee will develop an improvement plan with timelines, financial implications and needs for the program, as well as a communication plan to support implementation.
The committee will provide a preliminary report and recommendations by June 15. A final report will be due by Sept. 30.
“This initiative will help us rethink and reshape our public safety in our schools and provide the best social and mental health support for our students,” Elrich said in a press release on Wednesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. Over hundreds of thousands of years, sediments from southern Greenland have been making their way into the ocean, where they re carried by underwater currents to a location in the Labrador Sea called the Eirik Drift.
Here, they settle on the ocean floor, where they form a record of history, accumulating in layers that document the environmental past of the lands from which they came.
