Time for a rethink on the Britannia Leisure Centre

It has been reported that much of Hackney Council’s £227m capital spend this year – a particularly hard financial year – is on the Britannia Project. This figure contrasts starkly with the maximum of £17m which the council quoted to the Save Britannia Leisure Centre campaign for a full refurbishment of Britannia Leisure Centre. Instead, the council decided to knock down the Britannia and build a replacement on Shoreditch Park.
Charges against a Fayette County educator who was accused in 2017 of molesting two Nuttall Middle School students have been dismissed, due to a procedural issue, officials said Monday.

Earlier this month, the United Nations agency tasked with working with Palestinians said it mistakenly issued textbooks that call for jihad, or holy war, against Israel. The agency, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said it was “taking steps” to address their glorification of “martyrs” and calls for “jihad.”
UNRWA issued the apology after the Jerusalem-based Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education – IMPACT-se released a report analyzing Palestinian textbooks that are used by hundreds of thousands of students in the West Bank and Gaza.
