The couple has spent the past few months renovating the former Nippy’s Soul Food Restaurant – before that eatery moved to 2206 Carolina Beach Road. By the way, the CheeseSmith food truck is now out on the road again as the new home of Grimm Burger.

When Ash Aziz sold some of his Wilmington area restaurants in 2019, he wanted to take a step back from the industry,
“But, as it turns out, semi-retirement is not for me,” said Aziz, who owns Circa 1922 and Pizzeria Il Forno in Wilmington. “I don’t golf well.”
Instead, he’s been thinking about bringing at least one new restaurant to the area.
“We are just in the design state right now,” he said.
The unnamed coastal-themed restaurant is in the works for Autumn Hall off Eastwood Road and still nine or more months away. But Aziz said he has been invigorated after taking a bit of a break, and after what has been a difficult year for restaurants.
