I’m going to take a look at either one or two other NHL teams each week. My goal is to get some input from people who cover the team because let’s face it, I don’t have the knowledge of each NHL team to be able to give you the best idea of what to expect. Keep in mind that there’s a lot that could happen between now and July, when the lists are finalized. So let’s dive into Columbus and Dallas!

The trade deadline may have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any more trades over the courses of the remainder of the league year. The NHL Expansion Draft is right around the corner, with protection lists due on July 17, ahead of the draft on July 21.
By that time, all 30 participating teams must be able to submit a protection list that complies with the exposure requirements of the draft. As a reminder, teams may protect seven forwards, three defensemen, and a goalie or eight skaters and a goalie. However, they must also expose two forwards and one defenseman signed beyond this season and who have played in 27 NHL games this season or 54 games over the past two seasons, as well as a goaltender under team control beyond this season.

The Sarasota County School Board took steps on Tuesday toward assuring families that officials expect the next school year will be a return to normal and that they plan to allow several COVID-19-related policies to expire.
The School Board will allow a policy requiring students to wear masks for the majority of the day and to sit behind a tri-fold desk shield during a “mask break” to end on June 30.
Next school year the district will no longer ask teachers to provide concurrent learning, teaching students both in person and remotely at the same time via web cameras.
The district will ask teachers to develop plans for how students can continue learning next year if they have to go into quarantine, without relying on the concurrent learning model, which has been widely panned by teachers, administrators and parents.
For the Blue Jackets, the reality is this isn t all that fun at the moment.
In the NHL, the most fun a player can have is when a team is winning games, lots of them, and that s the opposite of how things are going for the Blue Jackets. Columbus has won just two of its last 15 games, including an 0-5-1 mark in the last six, and the team is now tied with Detroit for last place in the Central Division.
Obviously, the Blue Jackets have been gutted by trades (Nick Foligno, David Savard, Riley Nash) and injuries (Zach Werenski, Boone Jenner, Gustav Nyquist, Emil Bemstrom) in recent weeks, which makes it hard to compete at the moment. At the same time, no number of excuses makes it easier on a professional athlete to handle the kind of stretch the Jackets are in right now.
