But the state comes in at a dismal 31 st place nationally for solar schools, according to the Brighter Future report released in 2020 by Generation180, a national non-profit organization that advocates for campuses to get more access to solar power. Only 57 schools in North Carolina have solar energy systems installed on campus.

Augusta County School Board approves next year s school calendar

VERONA Augusta County Public Schools is planning on a back-to-normal school year starting in August. The School Board approved the 2021-22 calendar Thursday night at its monthly meeting. There are no virtual days at this point scheduled for next academic year and the plan is for students to attend five days a week. That doesn t mean virtual learning won t be an option.  Tina Kiracofe, Augusta County s assistant superintendent of instruction, said the school division is awaiting further instruction from the Governor s office, which may provide a framework for virtual learning. We are currently looking at whether we want to provide some guidelines about who can participate in virtual learning, Kiracofe said.
