At a House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability hearing, Domingo stressed that the FDA would support proposed measures in Congress that will give them flexibility during emergencies. Kailangan talaga ng FDA ng mas flexibility lalo na kung panahon ng emergencies at support the local pharmaceutical industry, Domingo said. (The FDA needs flexibility especially in times of emergencies as well as support the local pharmaceutical industry.)

endIndex: Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 22)  One more hospital has been given a compassionate special permit to use anti-parasitic drug ivermectin against COVID-19, Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo said Thursday, adding one more CSP application is pending with the agency. The FDA issued the CSP to a hospital, which was not named, on Wednesday, Domingo announced during a hearing at the House of Representatives. Early this month, two other hospitals, also unnamed, got FDA s nod to prescribe this investigational drug to COVID-19 patients. The FDA earlier said oral ivermectin products in the country are only approved for use on animals to prevent heartworm disease and treat infections caused by parasites. The agency added doctors can prescribe topical ivermectin products to individuals with parasitic infestations such as head lice and other skin conditions.

Sa ngayon po mayroon pa pong na-approve na isang hospital kahapon. May pending pa po na isa daw na nag-apply din kahapon na may kulang lang na papel na isa-submit, Domingo said at a congressional hearing, noting that three hospitals now have CSPs. (One hospital was given a compassionate special permit yesterday. There s still a pending application as the documents submitted were not yet complete.)
