Duterte-Carpio cautions public vs Ivermectin as Covid-19 treatment

May 03, 2021 DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio cautioned the public on the use of Ivermectin due to its lack of clinical proof as an effective cure against coronavirus disease (Covid-19). Duterte-Carpio said in a radio interview that she respects Covid-19 patients who will resort to using Ivermectin, but she urged not to recommend it as it is still not a proven treatment for the disease. Of this number, 275,924 are persons with comorbidities, 278,183 are senior citizens, and 1,718 are essential workers who were inoculated during a Labor Day ceremony on May 1. “There were 1,094,493 frontline healthcare workers in the Philippines or 70.9% of the more than 1.5 million masterlisted [for] priority group A1 population had been vaccinated as of May 1,” Vergeire added.

Duque was reacting to reports that doctors who joined Representatives Rodante Marcoleta and Mike Defensor’s distribution of ivermectin wrote their prescriptions on a piece of paper and not on a prescription pad. “Kung totoo man yon na nakalagay sa isang tissue or bond paper lang, so part of what the FDA needs to do is investigate such reports. The accountability is clear it is the doctor who prescribed it who will answer for his action,” Duque said in an ANC interview.
