COLUMBIA - The summer months can be a difficult time for families who have to find ways to feed their children without the help of the school.Â
Feeding America predicted that 13 million children (1 in 6) may experience food insecurity in 2021. Food insecurity rates have also worsened since the pandemic, but one local nonprofit is working to help limit this.
Powerhouse Community Development Corporation provides meals to children under the age of 18 to ensure an access of a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack during the summer months. Alexsus Payne, KOMU 8 Reporter
