More than 80 families facing eviction from a Southeast Austin apartment complex by the end of the month will not be forced out, after a vote by Travis County leaders Tuesday.
Since July 2, the families living at the Rosemont at Oak Valley apartments had been staring at a July 31 deadline to leave. Thirty days is not enough time, became a common refrain among dozens of residents who begged members of the Travis County Commissioners Court in their Tuesday meeting for more time and funding. A police officer was fatally shot and another was wounded while responding to a home invasion on Detroit’s West Side, authorities announced late Wednesday.
