(Photo courtesy of Mara Lutomski/PSD) The Petersburg School Board is meeting Tuesday evening to go over budget revisions for this school year. They’ll also be going over their timeline for a Return to School Smart Start Plan for next year. The State’s Department of Education is directing school districts to have their Updated Smart Start Plans announced to the public by June 23 rd. It’s tied to federal funding through the American Rescue Plan Acts. The plan must include details of how the district will safely return to in-person schooling in the fall.

(Denning/KFSK) Petersburg teachers have a new labor agreement with the school district. The new contract covers the next three years until the spring of 2024 and gives teachers a small raise each year. KFSK’s Angela Denning reports: Ginger Evens volunteered to co-lead the Associated Teachers of Petersburg in negotiations this year because she says contract language is important. When she started teaching in Petersburg 26 years ago things like paternity leave weren’t really a thing.

There won’t be shows on April 9 th or 23 rd this month, unless needed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidelines for travel noting fully vaccinated people are less likely to get or spread COVID-19 and are safe to travel within the U.S. The CDC still recommending against non-essential travel but says the fully vaccinated or those who have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three month do not need to self-quarantine  or get tested before or after travel unless their destination requires it. What does that mean for the fully vaccinated here in Petersburg?
