Rolling Stone Erin Enderlin Embraces the Art of Being ‘Somebody’s Shot of Whiskey’
Singer-songwriter bets on herself with rowdy new anthem of self-worth
By
Erin Enderlin embraces the idea of not being able to please everyone in the new song “Somebody’s Shot of Whiskey,” which she released on Friday. It’s the first original music to appear from the Nashville singer-songwriter since 2019’s excellent full-length
Beginning with rhythmic strums of acoustic guitar, the stripped-down arrangement of “Somebody’s Shot of Whiskey” gradually incorporates drums, bass, steel, and fiddle along with Enderlin’s vocals, retaining a looseness that feels like a living-room jam.

Guy Clark film examines his love triangle with Townes Van Zandt, Susanna Clark
“Without Getting Killed or Caught” takes a look at the legendary Texas musician, his music and his complex relationships.
Townes Van Zandt, Susanna Clark and Guy Clark are at the center of the love triangle depicted in the movie Without Getting Killed or Caught.
For Tamara Saviano, a gifted author and filmmaker,
Without Getting Killed or Caught has been a labor of love. It is a documentary about the life and music of native Texan Guy Clark. But on so many levels, it is much more.
Born in the West Texas outpost of Monahans weeks before the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Clark and his family moved to Rockport on the Texas Gulf Coast, where, as a teenager, he learned to play the guitar. By the time he died in 2016 at 74, Clark was an icon of Texas music.
Music and major talent, under the stars Steve and Kay Ellis’ pavilion in their east Lowndes County property is home to their Barn Concert Series. When dusk falls in east Lowndes County Thursday, it will signal the start of a stellar night of music under the stars. The string lights will come on, the fire will crackle in the fire pit. Steve Ellis can pause, stand back for a minute and give thanks that it’s finally come to pass. Since he reworked “the Barn” behind his home on Mac Davis Road to host concerts just in time to coincide with a global pandemic, he may have wondered if it ever would. But with the advent of vaccinations, the light at the end of the tunnel is flickering a bit brighter.
