Farming friends swap their pastures for a podcast

THREE farming friends are swapping their quad bikes for the mic as they’ve produced a podcast that can be downloaded on Spotify. Ben Chilman, Ted Davies and Nick Rogers have ditched the wellies and instead donned a pair of headphones to bring you the Ewe Turn Podcast. But, if you think this is going to be a farming podcast informing listeners about the latest prices of sheep feed and discussing their favourite cattle breeds – think again. Instead, the idea has been born out of the fact the trio each struggled with their mental health during the various lockdowns brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, and they want to smash the stereotype of people in the farming community being impervious to struggles with depression and isolation.

@_run1000 challenge raises money for DPJ Foundation

A PEMBROKESHIRE mental health charity is encouraging farmers and those living rurally across Wales to run during the month of January to help with their mental health. Emma Picton-Jones, founder of the DPJ Foundation, helped create the @ run1000 challenge which is happening throughout January 2021. The challenge is being held between England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the rest of the world. Initially it was to see whose team could run 1000 miles first. All countries have now reached the 1000-mile mark and are now competing to see who can run the most miles throughout the month while raising awareness of the importance of rural mental health, and raising money for rural mental health charities including the DPJ Foundation.
