Emporia Police officers say a rural Emporia man and an Alden man were involved in Tuesday s injury crash in west Emporia.
Police Sgt. Lisa Hayes says a pickup driven by 18-year-old Sebastian Blankley of rural Emporia was westbound on US Highway 50. Blankley went left of center for unlisted reasons near the Graham Street intersection and collided head-on with an eastbound semi driven by 36-year-old Jon Darling of Alden.
The cause of a fire that destroyed a home in east Emporia is under investigation by the Emporia Fire Department.
Just before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, dispatch toned out for a structure fire at 505 Exchange St.,
âWhen we arrived there was a pretty good amount of smoke and flame showing on the outside of the house, located at the top side of the house in the chimney and the attic,â said Battalion Chief Bill Harmon.
Harmon said the windy conditions made it a little more difficult to extinguish the blaze, however the proximity to Fire Station No. 1 â just four blocks away â made it possible for a quick attack by firefighters.
