Fremont man sentenced to 30 months of probation for marijuana delivery

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune A 20-year-old Fremont man was sentenced to 30 months of probation for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in Dodge County District Court Monday. Marc A. Mendoza, who pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 4, was facing a three-to-five-year prison term recommendation from the state. “I think three to five is generous; I was looking at the bottom number being five,” Judge Geoffrey Hall told Mendoza. “That’s what I’m trying to impress upon you, is how serious a sentence you’re facing.” Mendoza was under investigation by the Fremont Police Department III Corps Drug Task Force, which had been conducting surveillance on him at his apartment.

Fremont man graduates from Dodge County Reentry Court program

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune Having been a judge with the Dodge County District Court since 2010, Geoffrey Hall said he’s known Eric Lowther for the duration of his legal troubles. But in a Dodge County courtroom Friday morning, Hall told Lowther that he was the best version of himself that he’d seen yet. “Is it a completed portrait or painting? No, it’s a work in progress,” Hall said. “But maybe for the first time, you have found the key or the secret to success.” On Friday, Lowther, 38, graduated from reentry court after completing his post-release supervision (PRS), an intensive rehabilitation probation for individuals after completing a prison sentence.

Valley woman sentenced to two years in prison for drug possession

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune A 30-year-old Valley woman was sentenced to two years in the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women for drug possession and violating her probation Monday. Britney M. Lane, who appeared in the Dodge County District Court via Zoom, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and admitted to violating her probation. On Dec. 5, 2019, a Fremont Police Department officer pulled over a driver, who was operating the vehicle on a revoked driver’s license in downtown Fremont. One of the two passengers had an active Dodge County warrant. The other passenger, Lane, was found to have a loaded syringe of methamphetamine in her coat pocket, while another syringe was found on the floorboard of where Lane was sitting. During Lane’s processing at the Dodge County Jail, a bag of meth was also found on her.

Lyons man pleads guilty to intentionally hitting man with truck

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty to intentionally hitting a Fremont man with his truck in the Dodge County District Court Monday. Joshua D. McMullin of Lyons is facing charges of second-degree assault, a class 2A felony, and failing to stop and render aid, a class 3A felony. On Oct. 5, 2020, Fremont Police Department officers were dispatched to Methodist Fremont Health in regard to a male victim with injuries he said were from a hit-and-run earlier that day, according to a police report. The victim said that he arrived at a south Fremont residence to talk to a woman about their relationship. At the residence, the victim got into a heated argument with McMullin before leaving on foot.
