At 12:23 p.m. on Sunday around 300 airmen from the McEntire Joint National Guard base landed on American soil for the first time in three months. One, however, had an extra special surprise awaiting him.
The men and women from the 169th Fighter Wing had been deployed in Saudi Arabia serving our country. The McEntire hangar was full of happiness, tears, love and joy as hundreds greeted their missed loved ones.
“We’re waiting for my daddy, said Leslie Gallman, I’m so excited because we’ve been waiting for him a very long time”

A new mural adorns the side of a building on Main St. in downtown Columbia.
Ija Charles, the 24-year-old artist, is behind the new masterpiece that was officially unveiled on Thursday. To be able to paint something in South Carolina where the residents are why I am the artist I am today… I just never want to leave here I want to keep painting the town, Charles said.
Charles has been creating works of art in Columbia for several years now, including a recent work in Cayce.

SUMTER, S.C. Prisma Health in Sumter is changing it s vaccine location from Tuomey Hospital to the Sumter Civic Center.
Starting Monday, Prisma will be utilizing the Sumter Civic Center to expand their community vaccine outreach.
Friday, they vaccinated six patients in an effort to run through the process and make sure they were prepared to open their doors.
“So today we had our dress rehearsal, says Rita Halverson with Prisma, We are officially opening up at the Sumter Civic Center starting Monday, March 15. With our dress rehearsal we went ahead and brought in 6 patients and we went through the process itself.”

SUMMERTON, S.C. A Summerton Navy veteran celebrated 94 years Saturday with a drive-thru parade.
Family and friends showed up to wish Algie Walker a very happy 94th birthday at the Summerton Presbyterian Church in Clarendon County.
Mr. Walker is the longtime owner of Walker s Pianos, a piano tuning service in town since 1947. Before that, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
