Depth, experience key for Winona State women s hoops

The wait is over for Winona State women’s basketball. The Warriors open a new season this weekend in a fan-less McCown Gymnasium with the whole roster from last year’s 17-11 group returning, including seniors Taylor Hustad, Allie Pickrain, Emily Kieck and Emma Fee. Hustad averaged almost 15 points and eight boards a game. Kieck was the league leader in assists, and both Pickrain and junior Sydney Lodermeier are lethal from three-point land. In fact, Lodermeier had one of the best shooting seasons in Warrior history as she knocked down 46 percent of her threes. Coach Scott Ballard says he has a ton of depth this year, with 10 different players he could see in starting roles.
