Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–Tuesday’s doubleheader with Holcomb and Scott City saw a pair of teams with plenty of unknowns. With only two games under their belts, and only one senior combined on the field, the youthful teams played a pair of well-contested games in a battle of 2-0 teams. Scott City would pick up the sweep, as they pulled away for a 10-3 victory in game one, but squeaked out a 4-3 win over the Lady Longhorns in the finale.

The first game of the afternoon would be a tight one early, but the Lady Beavers would pull way in the late stages. Holcomb scored the first run in the top of the first on an Emma Cornelson run after a dropped third strike, and Scott City responded with a run to tie the game after Amber Latta scored on a passed ball. Pupils at a West Norfolk village school were awarded prizes after they designed an eye-catching poster to help encourage villagers to pick up after their dogs.
The signs, which have been designed by youngsters from Snettisham Village School, will be displayed around the village, on dog bins at at the Common.
One of the judges, parish councillor Janet Todd, said: âWe very much enjoyed seeing the childrenâs work, and they were really engaged with the idea.
