STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Representatives from the non-profit agency in the process of opening a Grasmere homeless shelter for women will address Community Board 2 during a virtual meeting of its full board on Tuesday, May 18, at 7 p.m.
The Institute for Community Living plans to open the 50-bed shelter at 1055 Hylan Blvd. It will be for single adult women over the age of 50 who are experiencing homelessness. Safety, security, social services and support will be provided to the residents while they get back on their feet. Priority will be offered to women with roots in the community and Staten Island more broadly.

Hotel zoning changes on agenda as Staten Island Community Boards meet this week

The Citywide Text Amendment will be discussed at the 7 p.m. meeting of the Land Use Committee. It aims to create a consistent approach to hotel development citywide, requiring City Planning Commission approval for all enlargements in mixed-use and paired M1/R districts.
