Acadiana seniors named 2021 National Merit Scholars

Five Acadiana students were named National Merit Scholars, each receiving $2,500 and distinction few can boast. They are among only 2,500 Merit Scholars nationwide  33 in Louisiana   chosen from a talent pool of some 16,000 finalists in the 2021 scholarship program. Four hail from Lafayette Parish: Oliver Craddock of Lafayette High; Arden Frantzen of Episcopal School of Acadiana; Rafael Hernandez of Teurlings Catholic High School; and Alaina Le of St. Thomas More Catholic High School. A fifth, AnaLaysha Burgess-Collazo, is from Jeanerette and attends the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, a public residential high school in Natchitoches. ESA students showcase creative talents during arts festival KATC and last updated 2021-05-01 22:21:02-04 Students at Episcopal School of Acadiana had the chance Saturday to showcase their creative talents during an arts festival at the school s Cade campus. ESA artists and musicians typically attend the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest s Fine Arts Festival each spring, but with the festival canceled for the second year in a row, the school s visual and performing arts departments decided to host a festival of their own. The ESA Fine Arts Festival began on Friday with a Senior Art Show Reception. Saturday s events included an art display, a jazz brunch, painting, workshops, drama and musical theatre performances, and more. It wrapped up with a concert from 3-5:30 p.m.
