ENFIELD, CT Town Manager Chris Bromson presented a proposed budget of just over $146.5 million for fiscal year 2021-22 to the town council Monday night, an increase of nearly 5.5 percent over the current year. However, homeowners will not face a tax increase.
The budget proposal of $146,541,970 is up more than $7.6 million over the 2020-21 allotment. However, an increase in the grand list would enable the mill rate to remain at 34.23 for the third straight year.

Many Rivers Community Acupuncture is celebrating the fact that eighty percent of people over the age of 65 have received COVID-19 vaccinations in Connecticut. Many Rivers will offer discounted acupuncture treatments for people 65 and older in April.
Acupuncture treatments will be offered at $20 for an initial treatment for new patients, and $15 for each follow-up treatment for returning patients who are 65 and older from April 1 through 30.
“Spring is here and seniors are getting vaccinated,” said Many Rivers founder Carrie Sawtell, L.Ac. “Many of our senior patients are experiencing aches and pains from increased exercise and outdoor activities.
Somers implements emergency alert system [Journal Inquirer, Manchester, Conn.]
Feb. 15 SOMERS The town has implemented a new notification system to alert the community about emergencies such as severe weather, missing person reports, road closures, and COVID-19 updates, and town officials are urging everyone to sign up.
The town is using the Everbridge alert system, and residents can download the application and register with the town of Somers group to receive alerts.
Everbridge is a global software company headquartered in Boston that provides communication services for notifications of emergencies.
Kim LaFleur, the town’s operations director, emphasized that these notifications would be for emergencies only.
Enfield police: Don t click link in extremely disturbing email

ENFIELD Police are investigating what they described as an “extremely disturbing” message that was sent to school and town email addresses over the weekend.
The email was originally sent to various town email addresses, according to police, who also urged residents not to click on any suspicious links in emails.
Enfield Superintendent Chirstopher Drezek said school officials learned of the email that originated from an Enfield Public Schools account on Sunday night. Drezek said the email was sent to school and town email addresses.
