TIRZ #2: Toot n Totum travel center project nears completion

One of the more high profile construction projects underway within the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #2 boundary is nearing completion. During Thursday s virtual regular TIRZ #2 Board of Directors meeting, it was noted the Toot’n Totum Travel Center slated for 7909 E. Interstate 40 is eyeing a tentative March 4 grand opening.  We ll definitely keep the board updated as we get more details on what that event will look like,  Economic Development Neighborhood Revitalization Manager Emily Koller said in addressing the panel.  In December 2019, the Amarillo City Council voted in favor of an agreement between Jamal Enterprises LP and TIRZ #2 for an annual property tax rebate of 90% for years one through five and 50% in years six through 10 for the travel center project.

Hermosa’s favorite oceanfront dive bar was facing a huge rent increase and can’t survive selling inexpensive beer and burgers.
