According to Bentz, training is underway at the new-to-the-area sandwich shop, with the opening date tabbed for Monday, May 17. We started training (Thursday, May 6) and then we re going to train through until the following Monday, Bentz said.

Restaurants look to reclaim diners, profits lost to delivery services

Shake Shack Consumer demand for food delivery is growing but is hurting restaurant profits.  Chains like Taco Bell are taking steps to convert delivery app users into direct customers. Chipotle is raising delivery prices by 13% to offset costly commission fees.  Nearly four years ago, McDonald s signed an exclusive deal to have Uber Eats be its sole delivery provider. While the exclusivity of that partnership did not last, the announcement signaled the beginning of a delivery boom as restaurants scrambled to partner with DoorDash, Postmates , Grubhub, and the like. The war among top food delivery players has only intensified as consumers appetite for on-demand food delivery grows, with restaurants caught in the middle forced to fork over commission fees as high as 30% per order.
