Vadodara: He had molested a two-year-old girl and was caught red-handed by her parents earlier this month. Dinesh Solanki was booked for sexual harassment and under the POCSO Act by the Wadi police. And, now he will have to cool his heels in jail for a long time as cops have also invoked Prevention of Anti-Social Act (PASA) against him.
In a first, the city police have begun taking strong action against the persons accused in sexual harassment offences.
This year, six men accused in various cases of sexual harassment were booked under PASA. “We have begun invoking PASA against those committing sexual offences in the city. The idea is to send a strong message to such offenders that they will face strict action for their criminal acts. Sexually harassing a woman is a grave offence,” said Shamsher Singh, city police commissioner.

Vadodara: Nearly two months after he fled from police custody, the police on Tuesday rearrested convict Manish Rajput from the city. Rajput, who was a Prevention of Anti-Social Act (PASA) detainee, had escaped from custody in May when he was admitted to SSG Hospital for Covid treatment.
He was lodged in Vadodara central jail and was admitted to SSG on May 10 after he had tested positive of Covid-19. On May 13, Rajput, a native of Surat, escaped under the pretext of going to the washroom. In spite of heavy police security in the hospital, accused managed to hoodwink the staff and flee from the hospital. Cops later scanned CCTV footage of the hospital and even sent a team to Surat to nab the criminal.
Asker Ali arrived here at a time when the ruling CPI-M led Left and the Opposition Congress led UDF have slammed the way Patel is going about things on the island, and are set to come out with a unanimous resolution against Patel.
