HILLSBORO, N.D. Two people were injured 9 miles north of Hillsboro after a semi-truck rear-ended a Kia Soul at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22.
According to a news release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Soul, driven by Edwin Ehlers, 70, of Hillsboro, was northbound on Interstate 29 near mile marker 113 when Ehlers attempted to cross the median and slowed abruptly in the passing lane. The northbound semi, driven by Trent Fore, 36, of Hewitt, Minn., rear-ended the Kia.
The Kia suffered significant damage, and the semi suffered minor damage. Ehlers was transported by air for emergency medical attention. His passenger, a 13-year-old Hillsboro girl, also was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Fore was uninjured in the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
