Russell A Powell, enjoyed woodworking

April 5, 2021 Russell A. Powell of Millsboro passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2021. Russ worked for Boeing Vertol in Philadelphia, Pa., for 35-plus years until his retirement in early 2000. He also helped his wife Donna for 25 years in her dance studio, located in Vineland, N.J., where he was her “Music Man” and accountant. Russ loved to work with wood, building model cars/trucks, and his train village he had for many years. Russ had a passion for being on the ocean and fishing, whether with one of his sons or his grandchildren. Russ also liked travel, which he did in his younger years, with his wife Donna. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

(WTVM) - A Columbus barbershop helped to educate the community about colon cancer with a free screening event Saturday. Diamond Kutz held the event at their shop on Macon Road for men and women between 50 and 75-years-old. Local doctors also came by to talk to participants about colon cancer, screening and answer questions. Diamond Kutz owner Edward Powell says colon cancer is the second most deadly cancer behind lung cancer. He says people should contact a doctor if they notice changes in their body or stool.

Donna M Powell, had passion for dance

February 15, 2021 Donna M. Powell of Millsboro passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021.  She was born in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late Alvin and Helen Hunter. Ms. Donna had a passion for dance from a very young age. She was extremely talented and performed as a Rockette in New York City. She went on to open Donna Powell Dance Studio in Vineland, N.J., where she taught countless generations of kids. She loved working with children and sharing her passion for dance. When not dancing, Ms. Donna enjoyed travelling. Above all, she cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and teacher who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
