Edmonds Waterfront Center hires new facilities manager

MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: May 27, 2021 The Edmonds Waterfront Center has added a new facilities manager, Jim Smith to their team. Smith’s role will include overseeing the building management and maintenance, as well as technology and audiovisual systems used for programs and rentals at the new 26,000-square-foot Edmonds Waterfront Center. “Up to this point our focus has been on constructing the building,” said Edmonds Waterfront Center CEO Daniel Johnson. “Now as we prepare to open to the public, we are shifting to making sure all the systems are operating at peak performance and Jim is just the man for the job.”

It was a double honor for former Edmonds Police Department Acting Chief Jim Lawless as he was named both the 2020 Professional of the Year and the newest Rotary Paul Harris Fellow at a special Tuesday morning meeting of the Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary, the first large meeting to be held at the new Edmonds Waterfront Center.

Edmonds Waterfront Center virtual opening raises $111K

(Photos courtesy Edmonds Waterfront Center) The Edmonds Waterfront Center’s virtual opening last month raised $111,000 for the new facility. As reported in our earlier story, the virtual opening on April 22 Earth Day drew 500 attendees, and began with a video created by guest speaker and leading Waterfront Center supporter Rick Steves. “Earth Day is a fitting day for this event given the LEED Gold certification and many green features of the new center,” Steves said. During the video, Steves reviewed the roots of Edmonds’ commitment to its seniors, going back more than 50 years to the original Edmonds Senior Center and how this evolved into today’s new multi-generational Waterfront Center.

Peggy Sanders to join Northwest Elder Law Group

Owned and managed by attorney Rebecca King, Northwest Elder Law Group has offices near Northgate, and provides legal services to older adults and their families. “Peggy Sanders is an excellent, experienced and dedicated elder law attorney. I am thrilled to add her to our team,” King said. “I’m excited about this move,” Sanders said. “This will give us a much broader range of resources to serve the needs of our clients.” Attorney Nicole Betts and paralegal Tracy Smith will also be joining Northwest Elder Law Group along with Sanders. The three will be working out of the Northgate offices starting June 1, 2021.
