For the first time in six years, Jenny Ren won’t be able to visit her family back home in China for the New Year.
The 25-year-old first moved to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta and after graduating in 2017, she took a job as a bank adviser. Ren would often travel overseas to see her parents and grandparents in Shanxi province, which is roughly 600 kilometres southwest of the country’s capital of Beijing, during Chinese New Year also known as the Lunar New Year.
