I was a member of the high school Bugle Band from 1949 to 1954. Al Close, who was a barber, was the leader. The band was made up of girls and boys. We played WWI bugles. Cadet inspection and Remembrance Day were the main yearly events. We wore army uniforms for the first year and then had grey slacks and skirts, wine tunics and officers caps. Classmates that were in the band included Edna Martin, Marion Chamberlain, Gwen Christie, Jim Flannigan and Bob Scott. There likely were others that I donât remember.
