Mark Greenaway to open pie shop in London

Scottish chef Mark Greenaway is to open a takeaway pie and mash shop in London s Charing Cross next month. Called Greenaway’s Pie & Mash, the concept is inspired by the capital s dwindling pie shop tradition. Scotch pastry shells will be used for the pie bases, and be topped with flaky puff pastry. Fillings will include classics such as chicken, mushroom and tarragon; and beef short rib with pearl onions.  There will also be a range of seasonal specials such as butternut squash, goat’s cheese and spinach; confit duck with lentil and orange; and braised lamb shank with peas and mint.
