The city of Warner Robins is mourning the loss of a prominent figure in the community – its first fire chief.
According to the Warner Robins Fire Department, Ernest Wood died Wednesday evening.
In 2019, Wood celebrated the 60th anniversary of that milestone by taking a trip down memory lane. He visited his old fire station, which was converted to a museum showing a refurbished firetruck and firefighting tools.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. A man wanted for robbing a Warner Robins convenience store over the weekend is now in custody.
According to Warner Robins Police, they arrested 20-year-old Jordan Cainion Tuesday on a charge of armed robbery.
Those charges stem from a robbery at the EnMarket on Russell Parkway that happened around 6 a.m. Saturday.
An employee reported that a man came into the store with a gun and demanded money.
No one was injured in the robbery. Cainion is being held at the Houston County jail.

MACON, Georgia(41NBC/WMGT) – Warner Robins Police are searching for a man they say robbed a gas station convenience store at gun point.
According to the police department, the man they’re looking for walked into the EnMarket at 217 Russell Parkway around 5:45 Saturday morning with a gun and demanded money. After getting some cash, he ran.
Police say the suspect had his face covered and was last seen wearing a light colored sweatshirt. No one was injured during the robbery.
