Two temblors struck in quick succession off the Oregon coast this afternoon.
The first tremor occurred at 1:15 p.m. today (February 20).
The U.S. Geological Survey measured it as a 5.1-magnitude quake.
At a depth of 10 kilometres (six miles), the epicentre was located 282 kilometres (178 miles) west of Bandon, Oregon; and 409 kilometres (253 miles) southwest of Salem, Oregon.
A few minutes later, a second seismic event followed at 1:22 p.m. in the same area.
This one registered as 4.9-magnitude, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Also at the same depth, the epicentre of this second quake was located 304 kilometres (189 miles) northwest of Bandon, and 424 kilometres (263 miles) southwest of Salem.
