1/1 A DEVELOPER has shared images of its plans for six homes on a site that was previously used as a medical centre and a parish hall. Work is progressing at Hassett Homes ‘Chantry Gate’ development on Church Lane, Eccleston. Councillors gave approval “with a heavy heart” to build six houses on the former Christ Church Parish Hall land in Eccleston last December Since 2008 the car park at the vacant church site had been host to Eccleston Medical Centre via a portable building, however, it was left vacant after the centre moved to a new build site at nearby Millfields. The developer says it aims to create a bespoke collection of six, 4 and 5 bedroom detached homes.

And there is a waiting list for people desperate for the services of Healthier Heroes, a hub for veterans and their families.
The success of the project has topped all expectations of founder Andrew Powell, an ex soldier himself who set up the project in December 2020, after completing a successful project previously. But it was always his dream to launch Healthier Heroes in his hometown of Burnley.
The property in question is a large, detached house on the northern side of Chapel Lane. The applicants sought permission from St Helens Borough Council to erect a two-storey side extension, forming a snug and a gym on the ground floor, and a home office/family room on the first floor. The proposal also includes an enclosed rear terrace with a Juliet balcony. A previous application for the site, which was extended in 2018, was submitted last year but officers found the plans to be unacceptable and they were subsequently withdrawn. Officers found the revised plans to be acceptable, however, and they recommended planning permission be granted subject to conditions.
The former Christ Church Parish Hall COUNCILLORS have given the nod “with a heavy heart” to build six houses on the former Christ Church Parish Hall in Eccleston. Since 2008 the car park at the vacant church site has been host to Eccleston Medical Centre via a portacabin. Initial outline plans for the demolition of the former church hall and the construction of up to seven homes were approved in 2019. A reserved matters application (appearance, landscaping, layout and scale) for the erection of six detached homes at the site was submitted earlier this year. On Tuesday, this application was heard, and approved, by St Helens Borough Council’s planning committee.
