To achieve the 60% target deemed necessary for herd immunity, Africa needs to vaccinate 780 million people out of a population of 1,3 billion. In South Africa, 40 million people need to receive vaccine. While South Africa’s vaccination rollout plan is currently on pause, frontline healthcare workers are still receiving the vaccine as part of the Sisonke medical study.
Once the government has secured the necessary doses to restart the programme, no time must be wasted in rolling out these lifesaving shots across the continent. However, achieving herd immunity will be no small feat. This will require the use of the correct cold chain and storage management, including temperature monitoring and alert technology, to ensure that vaccines reach even the most remote parts of Africa safely.

While businesses only need to calculate their liability and submit their carbon tax return once a year, compliance with the Carbon Tax Act itself is not a once-off accomplishment nor is it as difficult to achieve as some organisations think.

Rather, by using the right monitoring tools, such as a cloud-based carbon tax calculator along with practical strategies like pollution prevention plans and carbon budgets, organisations can track compliance and determine liability in an on-going manner. With a clear view of emissions across the organisation’s value chain provided by carbon analytics tools, businesses can monitor their outputs and measure the effectiveness of their carbon reduction efforts in line with their goals in real-time.

Cape Town â WITH the arrival of 1Â million Covid-19 vaccine doses in South Africa on Monday, the country is now a step closer to rolling out the vaccine to its front-line workers.
To ensure a successful distribution and delivery of the vaccine, to all the provinces in the country, the vaccine needs to be transported and stored under specific conditions.
âIt is extremely important to maintain temperature control in the transportation, handling and storage of any vaccine,â explains Eckart Zollner from Ikhaya Automation Systems, a Pietermaritzburg-based remote temperature monitoring specialist company.
