Fegen s, 1050 Studewood, opened April 6. The new restaurant comes from F.E.E.D. TX Restaurant Group and will focus on classic American fare and cocktails. It takes over the space formerly occupied by Liberty Kitchen & Oyster Bar. The group (Lance Fegen, Carl Eaves, Will Davis and Jiim Jard) sold the Liberty Kitchen brand in the summer of 2020.
Fegen will serve as chef-owner and managing partner. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Fegen has worked at some of Houston s best known dining establishments such as Brennan s of Houston, The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa as well as founding his own glass wall-the restaurant in 2005. In 2010, Fegen and others began F.E.E.D. TX which was the parent company of Liberty Kitchen.

Common Bond On-The-Go, 3210 N. Shepherd, opened March 4 in Garden Oaks. It s the second location for the brand s more casual, trimmed down version of its popular Common Bond Bistro and Bakery. The first offshoot opened in the Heights in May 2020.
Common Bond s success lies in its fresh baked bread and beautiful pastries which offer Houstonians a taste of European-style delicacies. The pastries, though not inexpensive, are delicious pieces of art and the breads are reminiscent of a Parisian boulangerie. While the full-on Common Bond Bistro offers a place to unwind and linger, the On-The-Go version offers a limited menu of grab n go salads, sandwiches and breakfast treats. However, there s a full pastry case and a small selection of loaves is available. The Country Sourdough is a particular favorite among Houstonians. Its croissants are also a big draw with butter, Nutella, pistachio and chocolate iterations.

Fegen s will open this spring in the Heights.
The minds behind the Liberty Kitchen concept have announced their next chapter. Fegen s, which has taken over the former Liberty Kitchen & Oyster Bar space at 1050 Studewood in the Heights, is scheduled to open this spring.
Fegen s is named for Lance Fegen, chef, owner, and managing partner of the restaurant through F.E.E.D. TX Restaurant Group. He and fellow F.E.E.D. partners Carl Eaves, Will Davis, and Jim Jard birthed Liberty Kitchen in 2011 and sold the brand last year to Culinary Khancepts (State Fare Kitchen & Bar). Per the deal, the team held onto the Heights property with hopes of turning it into something new.
