$1.5M grant to explore integrated reuse of industrial waste, CO2 February 8, 2021 Sludge, slag and other waste produced by the steel industry are not only hazardous to the environment, but can be expensive for companies to discard. A new research project led by Cornell will seek an integrated approach to turning that waste into valuable materials using a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. Steel production is a messy business. Blast furnaces reduce iron ore into pig iron, which is then converted into steel using a variety of processes and materials. Each step of the way produces a variety by-products such as flue dusts and slag – waste matter containing a mixture of chemicals and metals.

MSTC to sell assets of UPFC

The agreement shall remain valid till either party terminates it by giving advance written notice of three months to the other party for reasons to be furnished.Uttar Pradesh Financial Corporation (UPFC) has engaged MSTC as selling agents for selling assets owned by UPFC as well as the stressed assets of its finance assisted units, which have now become defaulting industrial concerns. MSTC will sell the assets through e-tender-cum-e-auction on MSTC s website. Recently, the media reported that the Union Cabinet will soon take a call on shutting down Scooter India. Subsequently, MSTC, will be tasked with the responsibility to sell the assets of Scooters India as well.

Govt approves Rs 3,000 crore project for Paradip port PTI New Delhi: The government Wednesday said it has approved a Rs 3,000 crore project to turn Paradip Port into a world-class port by setting up a dock. The decision to set up a western dock was taken by the Union Cabinet in its meeting held Wednesday, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said. “The Cabinet has approved setting up of Western dock at Paradip port at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore which will transform the port into a world-class and modern port. ….The decision has been taken with a futuristic approach as Prime Minister has been laying emphasis on development of eastern states,” Mandaviya said briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting.
